Missing poet in custody of AJK police, govt tells IHC

Ahmad Farhad Shah went missing from Islamabad 15 days ago after which his wife approached court.

ISLAMABAD: The mystery shrouding the disappearance of a poet and journalist ended on Wednesday when the federal government informed a court that he had been arrested by the Azad Kashmir police.

Ahmad Farhad Shah went missing from Islamabad 15 days ago and since then there were no whereabouts of him. After failing to find a clue, his wife approached the Islamabad High Court seeking recovery of her husband. 

Today when the court took up the natter, the federal government disclosed that the poet had been arrested and was in custody of Dhirkot police in Muzaffarabad. 

Earlier, the high court had given the government the deadline of May 24 yo recover the poet. On its failure, the court summoned the sector commanders of ISI and MI.

The court was informed by the attorney general that a case was registered at the Dhirkot police station on Wednesday morning against the poet.

The FIR was registered under section 186 of Pakistan Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions.
