No mobile, internet service during by-polls in Punjab

Home department writes to federal government to order suspension in 13 districts on April 21.

LAHORE: The home department of Punjab has requested the federal government to order suspension of mobile phone and internet services during by-elections to be held in 13 districts and tehsils of the province on April 21.

The by-elections are being held on seats of provincial and national assemblies in Kalar Kahar, Talagang, Chakwal, Gujrat, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Sadiqabad, DG Khan etc.

In order to ensure security and avoid any untoward incident, the home department of as sought the closure of the mobile phone and internet services for the whole day in these areas.

Meanwhile, police and other law enforcement agencies are being deployed in the areas and polling stuff have been dispatched to the polling stations along with the officials deputed on duty.
