Mobile phone service suspended as polling underway

Interior ministry confirms service suspended keeping in view security situation in country.

ISLAMABAD: As soon as the polling started across the country at 8am, many cities were without mobile service as the telecom authority suspended it.

A spokesman for the ministry of interior confirmed that the caretaker government has decided to temporarily suspend mobile service in the country. 

He was of the view that the decision had been taken in view of terror attacks in the country in recent months.

Many previous lives were lost in terrorist attacks in the country and the government in order to ensure peace has decided to suspend mobile phone services. 

Local people said that mobile phone service had been suspended in major cities including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi.
