ISLAMABAD: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to decide about attending the Shanghai Cooperation Council meeting to be held in Islamabad later this year.
According to media reports, Pakistan has extended an invitation to the Indian Prime Minister to attend the session along with other heads of state and government of the member states. The Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting will be held from October 15 to October 16 at the Convention Center in Islamabad.
Diplomatic sources in Islamabad say that Modi was unlikely to visit Pakistan for attending the SCO summit. They said that the Indian Prime Minister might send a delegation headed by a Minister or any other representative as had been the practice in the past.
The reason behind Modi’s unreadiness to visit Pakistan is his strong anti-Pakistan policies which have played a major role in keeping him in power for so many years.
A day earlier, it was reported in Pakistani media that the Indian Prime Minister while returning to his country from Europe used Pakistani airspace after entering Chitral in the north and excited from Punjab into Amritsar. However, he disregarded the international tradition of heads of state and government to send a good will message to the people and the government of Pakistan while flying over the country.
Narendra Modi has also been issuing anti- Pakistan statements accusing it of patronizing terrorism, specially in the Kashmir under the occupation of New Delhi.
