NEW DELHI: The Hindu extremist Modi government has introduced a “Waqf Amendment Bill” in the Lok Sabha under which it plans to occupy Waqf properties worth trillions of rupees owned by the Muslims of India.
The “Waqf Amendment Bill” has been introduced in the Indian Lok Sabha, but it has been strongly opposed by Congress members.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the purpose of the Waqf Amendment Bill was to marginalize Muslims and usurp their property rights.
He said that this attack on the constitution by the BJP of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and allies was an attack on Muslims. The bill will also become an example of targeting other communities in the future.
On the other hand, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board is staging a sit-in in Andhra Pradesh against the bill. Its leaders have vowed to resist the bill in parliament and expose the designs of the BJP at all forums.
