Molana Fazal rejects poll results, announces to sit in opposition

Says a conspiracy was hatched against his party at the behest of enemies of Islam.

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Molana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday announced his party’s decision to sit in the opposition and refused to be part of the coalition government.

Addressing a press conference here, the angry Molana rejected the elections in which his party performed very poorly. He came down hard on the election commission for its failure to hold free and fair elections.

He said after the rigged and manipulated elections, his party had lost confidence in the election commission and decided not to look to the ECP but make elections related decisions on the streets.

He said the executive committee of his party had decided to sit in the opposition, adding the rigging in the elections had broken the record of 2018 when Imran Khan was thrusted upon the nation through manipulation of election results.

The JUI chief also said that parliament and the ECP had now lost their importance and credibility and his party would be part of the parliament as a protest.

Parliament is losing its utility and decisions will now be made not in parliament but on the field.

He said a conspiracy was hatched against the JUI at the behest of the enemies of Islam at the international level. He said if the establishment thinks that the elections were fair then its narrative against the May 9 incidents would be considered buried forever.

He also invited PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to sit in the opposition with him. He said he was not bound by any decisions of the PPP and the PML-N who have decided to form a government at the center along with four other parties.
