VANCOUVER (CANADA): At a street festival in Vancouver, a car rammed into a large crowd, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The incident occurred during celebrations for Lapu-Lapu Day, according to international media reports.
The Vancouver Police Department confirmed that the driver responsible had been taken into custody. Authorities have yet to release the exact number of casualties but assured the public that investigations are actively ongoing.
“After a vehicle drove into a crowd at a street festival, several individuals have tragically lost their lives and many others have been injured,” said a police spokesperson. “The driver has been arrested, and more information will be shared as the investigation progresses.”
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating, “I am shocked and profoundly saddened by the horrific events that occurred today during the Lapu-Lapu Day celebrations.”
