KARACHI: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi here said that those claiming Imran Khan’s politics was over should now see where the nation stands.

Addressing a large public rally in Karachi on Sunday night, he alleged that police used force against PTI supporters at multiple locations but said the turnout proved public support for Imran Khan.

Afridi accused the Sindh government of “police brutality,” claiming that party workers were subjected to tear gas and road blockades. He said similar treatment was earlier witnessed in Punjab as well. Despite these hurdles, he said, people managed to reach the rally venue in large numbers.

The KP chief minister also alleged disrespect towards Sindhi cultural symbols such as the Sindhi cap and Ajrak, calling it unacceptable. He said no one would be allowed to “steal the public mandate” and urged party workers to remain ready for a nationwide movement once Imran Khan issues a call.

He announced that PTI’s street movement would continue and that the next phase would be launched from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Thanking the people of Sindh and Karachi, he said the massive gathering showed that PTI remains the representative party of Karachi.

Afridi stated that the public had proven that large rallies can be held even without facilities and despite government pressure. He reiterated that PTI would not accept the continued imprisonment of Imran Khan and claimed that public sentiment is firmly in favor of the former prime minister.
