NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: A major flood surge has hit Naushahro Feroze, causing widespread damage to homes, shops, and schools.
The inflow of water at Kotri Barrage on the Indus River has increased, with the current flow reaching 360,000 cusecs, marking a moderate-level flood.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division in Lahore, water levels at Guddu and Sukkur barrages are decreasing, with low-level floods recorded. At Guddu Barrage, the flow is 268,000 cusecs, while at Sukkur Barrage it is 310,000 cusecs.
At Naushahro Feroze, the flood surge has inundated areas near Kandiaro, submerging houses and shops. Government primary and middle schools have also been affected, with water accumulating in classrooms.
A total of 445 villages across 16 union councils have been impacted by the floods, and over 15,000 people have been moved to safe locations.
Elsewhere, the Sutlej River continues to experience moderate-level floods at Ganda Singh Wala, while low-level floods persist at Head Islam and Head Suleman.
In Jhalrapur Perowala, two women and a young man have died after being swept away by floodwaters.
The M-5 Motorway has been affected at 13 points, with concerns that five more areas may be impacted as the situation develops.
