According to the NCCIA, the call centre was being operated by foreign nationals. Investigators said fake profiles of women were created on Telegram and Facebook to deceive and defraud members of the public.

The agency said the suspects also allegedly targeted citizens through e-commerce and investment schemes.

Of the 28 people arrested during the operation, 24 are men and four are women, according to the NCCIA.

Mobile phones and computers were also seized during the raid. The agency said efforts are continuing to arrest the alleged mastermind, who remains at large.

Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and other relevant laws, and further legal proceedings are underway.
