Netflix’s New Nordic Thriller Series Receives 100% Rating
Netflix’s gripping Nordic noir thriller, “Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole”, has received widespread critical acclaim, earning a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series is an adaptation of the fifth novel in Nesbø’s Harry Hole series, The Devil’s Star.
Unlike the 2017 film The Snowman, which faced criticism, this adaptation—written and showrun by Nesbø himself—unfolds in a “Gotham-like” Oslo setting during a heatwave.
The story follows the brilliant yet self-destructive detective Harry Hole as he hunts a serial killer who leaves ritualistic crime scenes marked with pentagram-shaped precious stones. Harry also faces a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with his corrupt colleague Tom Waaler.
The first season consists of nine episodes, each ranging from 43 to 62 minutes. Critics and audiences alike have praised the series for its tight storytelling, atmospheric setting, and complex characterization.
