Fees for Lost Passports
Under the announced policy, applicants will have to pay double the applicable fee if their passport is lost for the first time. In the event of a second loss, the fee will increase to four times the standard charge.
The announcement comes as Pakistan begins issuing e-passports through its diplomatic missions abroad and passport offices in the country. New passports issued and existing passports renewed will be processed under the e-passport system, according to the report.
The e-passport incorporates modern security features designed to strengthen identity verification and improve the security of travel documents in line with international standards.
Previously issued machine-readable passports will remain valid until their expiry dates.
