New system introduced to make renewal of Dubai visa easier

Official says project is as an important step towards digital transformation of Dubai.

DUBAI: It has become possible for those living in Dubai to renew their visas of the UAE in a few minutes at home through a few clicks from their phone.
A new system has been introduced by the government to make the renewal of Dubai visa easier and faster. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has launched an online platform called ‘Salama’, which works through artificial intelligence.
The announcement was made during the 4th Annual Media Council held at Al-Jafiliya, the headquarters of GDRFA. 
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Head of Dubai Immigration, described the project as an important step towards the digital transformation of Dubai which has been launched to improve the lives of the residents.
Through ‘Salaam’, the residents can get their and family’s visas renewed within minutes. Users log in to select the renewal period, pay the fee and download the updated documents. This process does not require any paperwork and long queues.

The platform will send notifications to users before the expiry date of the visa and will notify the family members before the expiry of their visas.

Colonel Khalid Al-Falasi, Assistant Director General Digital Services, said that ‘Salama’ provides quick and accurate answers through modern technology, which will help in further improving the government service.
