According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on November 1 after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants linked to Indian-sponsored groups in the two districts.
In the first operation, security forces targeted militants in the Sanni area of Kachhi district and foiled an alleged attempt to establish a blockade in the town. Ten militants were killed during the operation, while weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site, the ISPR said.
In a separate operation in Kharan district, security forces targeted a militant hideout. Following an intense exchange of fire, seven more militants were killed, according to the military’s statement.
During the Kharan operation, 25-year-old Sepoy Hikmatullah embraced martyrdom while fighting the militants. He belonged to Karak district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations were continuing in the areas to locate possible facilitators and any remaining militants.
The military’s media wing added that counterterrorism operations would continue across the country under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, in line with the National Action Plan approved by the Federal Apex Committee.
It said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their efforts until what it described as externally sponsored terrorism was completely eliminated from Pakistan.
