According to The Times of India, Fatehi’s name appears as a prosecution witness in the third supplementary charge sheet filed in the case. The court has directed her to appear on November 2.
The case centres on allegations that Chandrashekhar, while lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail during 2020 and 2021, impersonated a senior government official and extorted approximately INR 200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.
Investigators allege that Chandrashekhar promised to secure her husband’s release from prison in exchange for the money. Following its investigation, the Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing filed a charge sheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Fatehi had previously been questioned by the Economic Offences Wing over her alleged links with Chandrashekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paul. Police also recorded her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
During questioning, the actress reportedly told investigators that she had been introduced to Chandrashekhar through his wife.
She was also questioned about an event held in Chennai in December 2020, which she had been invited to attend.
Fatehi has been summoned in the capacity of a prosecution witness; the report does not identify her as an accused in the extortion case.
