Under the new facility, overseas Pakistanis can register through their international WhatsApp numbers and digitally open a regular bank account with an International Bank Account Number (IBAN).

Through the Zindigi app, account holders will be able to financially support their families in Pakistan, pay utility bills, transfer money within the country and conduct other financial transactions.

The facility is available to eligible Pakistanis holding a Pakistan Origin Card (POC), National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).

Customers can choose between a Non-Resident Account Repatriable (NRAR) and a Non-Resident Account Non-Repatriable (NRANR), subject to applicable regulatory requirements.

Zindigi Co-founder and Chief Officer Nauman Azhar said the launch of overseas accounts was part of the company's vision to make banking easier and more accessible for every Pakistani.

He said geographical borders should not become barriers to accessing financial services, adding that the new facility would help overseas Pakistanis remain financially connected with their home country.

The initiative is expected to provide greater convenience to Pakistanis living abroad by allowing them to manage their financial affairs in Pakistan through a digital banking platform without the need for a local SIM card or physical branch visits.
