Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the drone was destroyed in mid-air. He added that two ballistic missiles fired towards Riyadh last night had also been intercepted. Falling debris from the missiles injured one civilian and damaged a house and a vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Houthis have been accused of using chemical weapons in attacks on Yemeni government forces and civilian areas, while tightening their siege of Taiz and closing key supply routes.

The Taiz Governorate Media Office said the militia had used weapons in the Al-Aqroud and Kahlan areas that may have contained prohibited gases and other toxic substances.

Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mustafa Noman, said the Houthis were using all kinds of illegal weapons. Information Minister Muammar al-Iryani called on the United Nations and international organisations to support an independent investigation and help ensure those responsible are held accountable.
