The 26-year-old boxer from Quetta defeated Thailand’s Wandee Sienongkhrout at the “Brave Hearts” boxing event held in Pattaya on October 31.

The eight-round bout at the FCC Stadium was stopped in the fifth round after an accidental clash of heads left Batool with a fractured nose. The ringside doctor halted the fight, with the result subsequently decided on the judges’ scorecards.

Two judges awarded the fight to Batool, while the third favoured her Thai opponent, giving the Pakistani boxer victory through a split technical decision.

Batool’s journey to the world title has been marked by financial difficulties and opposition from some family members. She began boxing in 2018 but continued pursuing the sport despite the challenges.

She has previously won Pakistan’s national professional boxing title and also competed in mixed martial arts (MMA), wushu and kickboxing. In January, she challenged for the WBC Asia Atomweight title but did not secure victory.

Following her latest achievement, Batool thanked her family, coach Shariq Khan, sponsors and the people of Pakistan for their support.

Her historic title win marks a significant milestone for women’s boxing in Pakistan and is expected to inspire young women in Balochistan, particularly in her hometown of Quetta, to pursue careers in sports.
