In an interview with Arab media, Araghchi said Qatari and Pakistani mediators were continuing consultations on the basis of Iran’s conditions.
He said a message from US Vice President JD Vance was being carefully reviewed and discussed at a high-level meeting. Araghchi warned that if the message was intended to impose a fuel distribution arrangement, it would amount to another US mistake, adding to what he described as previous errors.
The Iranian foreign minister said Washington’s attempt to pursue broader dialogue was viewed as a positive step. However, Tehran would decide whether to enter direct or indirect negotiations only after its conditions had been accepted.
Araghchi added that Iran did not currently see a need for a meeting with the United States. He warned that war remained a possibility and said his country was prepared for all scenarios.
He also said Iran wanted fighting to end on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Regarding the proposed arrangement, Araghchi said Qatar had suggested reducing Iran’s proposed seven-day implementation period to five days.
He added that the sides had now reached a proposal under which the implementation period would be reduced to two days.
