According to a media report, the provincial Law Department has formed the committee to assess the transparency and validity of the legislation enacted under the previous PTI government.

The committee must submit a detailed report and recommendations to senior officials within seven days. The findings will help the government decide its future course of action.

The review covers laws relating to 20 provincial departments, prosecution services, universities and medical teaching institutions. Legislation concerning the powers and privileges of provincial assembly members will also come under scrutiny.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Samar Haroon Bilour said several laws had been passed during the PTI government in haste and without a transparent process.

She said reviewing and correcting the legislation had become a key priority for the provincial government.

The proposed review aims to identify legal shortcomings and determine what changes may be required.
