Ali Haider, senior vice-chairman of the LPG Marketers Association, said LPG sales would be suspended across the country from the announced date.
He said representatives of the relevant associations had held an emergency meeting and jointly decided to launch the strike in opposition to the government’s new price-setting formula.
Haider rejected the proposed mechanism, arguing that its implementation could lead to a 25 to 30 per cent increase in LPG prices. He said the associations had therefore decided not to accept the new pricing arrangement.
