According to Central Region Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, the closure has been ordered to protect the lives and property of commuters amid reduced visibility.
The spokesperson warned that driving in foggy conditions is extremely dangerous and advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel. Motorists were urged to plan their journeys during daylight hours, with 10am to 6pm identified as a relatively safer time for travelling in foggy weather.
Drivers have also been advised to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead and stay within their designated lanes. Unnecessary overtaking and sudden braking should be avoided.
The Motorway Police further instructed motorists to use fog lights and ensure that their headlights, rear lights and windscreen wipers are in proper working condition.
In case of severely reduced visibility, drivers should pull over at a safe location rather than continue travelling in hazardous conditions.
The Motorway Police said the restrictions and safety instructions were aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of road users during the foggy season.
