Following his appointment, Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to reforming the global financial system and called for greater representation of developing countries in international financial institutions.

The finance minister stressed that development should be placed at the centre of global economic policymaking. He also called for affordable financing for developing nations and fairer decision-making processes at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Aurangzeb said addressing the challenges posed by climate change and mounting debt would remain among the key priorities during Pakistan’s G24 chairmanship.

He added that Pakistan would use the G24 platform to amplify the concerns and priorities of developing countries in international financial discussions.

“Our goal is to turn our collective voice into practical influence,” the finance minister said, underscoring the importance of stronger cooperation among developing economies to secure a more effective role in shaping global financial policies.
