An official familiar with the matter told a British news agency that the latest visit by the Qatari mediators was aimed at advancing efforts to reach an understanding between Washington and Tehran.
The mediation discussions are being conducted in coordination and consultation with the United States, the official said.
Earlier, US media reported that Vice President JD Vance had sent a letter to Iranian National Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei, proposing an early meeting between officials from the two countries. Iran has not yet formally responded to the letter, according to the reports.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that negotiations cannot make progress unless Iran’s seven conditions are accepted.
