Known for his contribution to Pashto music, Gulraiz Tabassum sang numerous memorable film songs and ghazals and performed at stage shows throughout his career.

His popular songs included “Za Pa Bara Zama” and “Da Sur Salona”. He was also recognised for performing traditional Pashto tappay and stage music.

The singer had been largely away from the entertainment industry in recent years.

His funeral prayers were offered last night in Kakakhel Town No. 1, Ring Road, Peshawar, after which he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

Gulraiz Tabassum was the son of the late Mahabat Khan. He is survived by his family members, including Faiz Tabassum, Bakhtiar, Baroz, Jahanzeb, Sameer and Kamal.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed deep sorrow over the singer’s death and extended condolences to his family. He said Pashto music had lost a distinguished artist whose contributions would be remembered.
