In an interview with The New York Times, Trump said he was fully prepared to accept the election results and would seek ways to cooperate with the opposition. He added that both sides might be able to reach compromises on some matters.

Explaining the Republicans’ poor performance, Trump argued that his absence from the ballot had affected the party’s results. He suggested that the outcome could have been different if he had personally been a candidate.

The president also defended his decision to support Republican candidates who failed to secure Senate seats, saying he had no regrets about backing them.

During the interview, Trump stood by his decision to launch the war against Iran, describing it as a wise move.

Following the election results, Trump also took to his social media platform, Truth Social, saying he would analyse the reasons behind the candidates’ victories and defeats. He also indicated that he might take on the role of a political commentator.

Trump shared an image of a red cap bearing the word “VETO”, reiterating his earlier warning that he could use presidential veto powers if Democrats pursued legislation in Congress that he opposed.

Despite the Republican losses, Trump expressed satisfaction with the first two years of his second presidential term, saying he had no regrets about the actions taken by his administration.
