KARACHI: A huge fire engulfed a shopping mall in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Karachi in which 11 people lost their lives and dozens of others injured on Saturday morning.
Moreover, damages have been caused to property worth millions of rupees. Doctors at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre said seven death bodies and scores of injured had been brought to the hospital.
Moreover, two dead bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital and two to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Fire brigade officials said the fire erupted on the second floor of RJ Mall at around 6:30am and spread to the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors. The cause behind the fire was yet to be determined.
They said that 42 people were rescued from the building but nine lost their lives due to suffocation.
There were reports that more people were still stuck inside the building.
The officials said that electricity supply to the area has been suspended and rescue operation underway.
