QUETTA: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Quetta in the aftermath of the terror incidents and killing of civilians by terrorists in different parts of Balochistan a day earlier.
He held a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta and discussed issues pertaining to law and order situation and measures taken for protection of lives of people in the province.
Addressing a press conference later, the interior minister said that the prime minister and other authorities were concerned about the situation. The government would soon take action that would give a big shock and surprise to the terrorists and their backers.
In reply to a question, the minister said there was no need of any military operation in Balochistan. These cowards come and kill innocent people and run away. We will go after them and teach them a lesson. There is no need of a military operation rather these cowards can be fixed by an SHO, he added.
He said that the terrorists and their backers were thinking that by such coward activities they would scare us. They are mistaken and they will get a very befitting response very soon.
Armed people blocked highways and killed dozens of people in different areas of Balochistan on the night between Aug 25 and 26. In Musakhel town, they shot dead at least 23 passengers after dragging them down and checking their CNICs. The terrorists also set fire to 10 vehicles.
In a similar incident, the terrorists blocked a highway in Qalat and killed 10 people, including four Levies and one police personnel. They also torched scores of vehicles.
