ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday night got a major breakthrough when JUI chief Molana Fazlur Rahman announced that he has now no reservations on the 26th constitutional amendment bill.
On the other hand, the federal cabinet at a late night meeting approved the 26th constitutional bill which will now be presented in parliament.
After holding a marathon session at his residence with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Molana Fazlur Rehman told media persons that all his reservations on the original draft bill prepared by the government had been removed.
He said there were a number of contentious sections in the original draft that’s why he had rejected it.
He said the draft bill was prepared again by removing all the contentious contents following a number of meetings with government and its allies’ representatives.
The JUI chief said that in order to pass the bill through consensus he asked the PTI to discuss the bill with the party founder Imran Khan. The PTI leaders next Imran Khan in jail. He said though Imran gad a number of complaints against the government his message to him (Molana) was very positive for which he thanked him.
Molana Fazlur Rehman said that now when all the reservations of the JUI as well as the PTI had been removed about the bill, he had asked the PTI leaders in Islamabad to again meet and discuss the matter with Imran Khan. He expressed the hope that he would receive a positive response from the PTI founder on Sunday after which the bill will be presented in parliament.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that as the bill had now been prepared through consensus he would request Molana Fazal to present it in parliament.
Meanwhile, the sessions of both the Senate and the National Assembly were adjourned at midnight
