The city administration issues daily official price lists for vegetables, fruits, chicken, eggs and other essential commodities, but residents say market prices often differ significantly from the notified rates.

Women shopping in local markets said their household kitchen budgets had increased substantially, with limited incomes making it increasingly difficult to purchase vegetables, chicken and other basic necessities.

Citizens said the difference between official rates and prices charged in markets was another source of concern, making it difficult for consumers to manage their daily expenses.

Shopkeepers, however, attributed the higher market prices partly to increased transportation costs following the rise in petroleum prices.

The increase in fuel costs has therefore added to pressure on household budgets, with consumers calling for effective implementation of official price lists and measures to keep essential commodities affordable.
