KARACHI: The Pakistani football team that clinched the Under-15 title at the Norway Cup was given a grand reception at the Sindh Assembly.

The young champions, representing “Better Future Pakistan,” arrived alongside Parliamentary Secretary and MPA from Lyari, Shazia Karim Sanghar, to a warm welcome from lawmakers.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Owais Qadir Shah, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, former Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, and Opposition Leader Sabir Rajput stood on the Assembly floor to greet the players, hailing them as “national heroes” who had brought pride to Pakistan and Sindh.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon assured the team that the Sindh Chief Minister and Sports Department would soon announce formal rewards befitting their achievement.

A lighthearted moment occurred when Agha Siraj Durrani suggested to the Transport Minister that the young players be gifted a red bus to help them travel for intercity matches. The proposal drew applause from the assembly members, bringing smiles to the faces of the Norway Cup winners.

Earlier this week, “Better Future Pakistan”, team of talented youth from Lyari made history by defeating Norway’s club Yvok Len 2-0 in the final of the Norway Cup Under-15 tournament.
