Notices Issued to Nine Stage Artists for Indecent Performances
LAHORE:: The Punjab Council of the Arts has issued official notices to nine prominent stage artists for presenting indecent performances at various theatre halls across the city of Lahore.
According to the Council’s monitoring teams, stage actors Mehboob Mastana, Madhu, Sehar Siddiqui, and Jia Chaudhry were found involved in indecent performances during shows at City Theatre, for which they have been formally served notices.
At Shama Theatre, actresses Arzoo Baig and Nirali were issued notices for violating the approved drama scripts and engaging in performances that were not in accordance with the guidelines set by the Punjab Council of the Arts.
Similarly, at Tamaseel Theatre, actress Resham Jaan was served a notice for performing a song that had not been approved by the censor board.
At Kamal Theatre, actress Qismat Khan also received a notice for presenting a non-censored song. In addition, actress Faryal was issued a notice for presenting indecent performances at Punjabi Theatre.
All nine artists have been directed to appear before the committee at the Punjab Council of the Arts within two days to present their written explanations and clarify their positions regarding the violations.
The Council has further warned that strict legal and administrative action will be initiated against any artist who fails to comply with the directives or respond to the notices within the given timeframe.
