NUML celebrates Turkey’s 101st Republic Day

ISLAMABAD: The Turkish language department at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad celebrated the 101st republic day of Turkey with a grand function on the campus.

Speakers at the function highlighted the brilliant history of Turkey and its deep-rooted relations with Pakistan. The education counsellor at the Turkish embassy in Islamabad Muhammad Torian was chief guest at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, he shed light on the independence of Turkey and the leading role of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in spearheading the movement. He said that the relations between Turkey and Pakistan were based on common culture and fraternity.

He said that the founder of Pakistan Quad-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and poet Allama Iqbal had wholeheartedly supported the independence movement of the Turkish people.  

Speaking on the occasion, the head of the department of Turkish language Noor Yasmeen said that the relations between Pakistan and Turkey were based on mutual respect. She said that today’s function was a proof of the cordial ties between the people of the tow countries. 

Students of the Turkish language on the occasion presented a poetry and dramatic presentation paying tributes to those who played their role in the independence movement of Turkey.
