Speaking at a rally in Ohio, Obama criticised the current administration for what he described as a series of poor decisions, calling the decision to launch what he termed an unnecessary war the most significant mistake.

Obama said Trump had initiated a war that nobody had called for. He also described the Trump administration as deeply incompetent.

The former president further criticised the administration’s claims of victory, arguing that attacks on US allies and military bases had occurred seven months after the declaration of victory over Iran. He said American personnel had been killed and wounded and that US missile stockpiles had been depleted.

Obama also claimed that Iran had gained veto-like leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to rising oil prices.

Discussing the economic consequences of the conflict, Obama said the war was a major factor behind rising prices of goods, adding to the financial burden on American consumers.
