RAWALPINDI: A U.S. diplomatic delegation visited Adiala Jail, where they were granted consular access to a prisoner languishing in the jail under blasphemy charges.
According to reports, the delegation from the U.S. Embassy arrived at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, and met with the detainee. Sources confirmed that the U.S. diplomatic team was given consular access to Shahbaz Afzal, who is imprisoned there.
The delegation met the prisoner in the office of the Deputy Superintendent Executive. The U.S. diplomatic team discussed the ongoing court case, jail facilities, and the health condition of the detainee.
The delegation included Chief Consular Officer Pam Hamlet and Security Officer Irfan Haider Malik from the embassy.
It is important to note that Shahbaz Afzal is facing charges of blasphemy registered at Sarai Alamgir police station.
