JEDDAH: A ministerial meeting of the executive committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah on Wednesday called for an immediate halt to the Israeli bombardment of Gaza following Hamas attack on the Zionist state on October 7.
Thousands of civilians have been killed in the Israeli air strikes with latest being over 500 dead when a hospital was targetted on Tuesday.
The OIC ministerial meeting today expressed its deep concern about the killings and called for the stoppage of the attacks on civilian population.
On the proposal of Pakistan, the meeting also demanded a safe corridor for supply of essential food items, including medicine, for the besieged people of Gaza.
The meeting was convened by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani was heading the delegation from Pakistan.
Addressing the meeting, FM Jilani strongly condemned Israeli aggression in the civilian population and termed the attack on the Gaza hospital a war crime.
Israeli occupation forces are openly violating international laws and their its use of force amounted to war crimes and crimes against humanity, the foreign minister added.
He called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes.
The meeting adopted a joint communiqué outlining the collective stance of Muslim Ummah on the situation in Gaza.
