Oil Tanker Disabled After Projectile Attack Near Oman Coast

MUSCAT: An oil tanker came under a projectile attack near the coast of Oman, leaving the vessel disabled, according to the British maritime security agency UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

The attack damaged the tanker’s engine room, while all crew members were reported safe, according to UKMTO.

Foreign media reports said there were no immediate reports of environmental damage or an oil spill following the incident.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region and growing concerns over the safety of commercial shipping in waters around Oman and the Strait of Hormuz.

Authorities and maritime security agencies are expected to monitor the situation closely as disruptions and attacks on commercial vessels could pose further risks to regional shipping and global energy supplies.
