Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz Withdraw Appeals Against Disqualification

ISLAMABAD: In the Supreme Court, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan withdrew the appeals filed on behalf of Umar Ayub and Shibli Faraz regarding their disqualification.

During the hearing, Barrister Gohar informed the court that elections for Shibli Faraz’s vacant Senate seat are scheduled for October 30. The court remarked that the case could be fixed for hearing on October 29.

The bench inquired whether the petitioners had surrendered. Barrister Gohar responded that neither Umar Ayub nor Shibli Faraz had surrendered yet, clarifying that the matter was of a civil nature, not a criminal one. He added that the party still intended to pursue Shibli Faraz’s case.

Barrister Gohar further stated that Umar Ayub had instructed him to withdraw his appeal, as his wife would be contesting the election for his seat.

He also informed the court that the appeal against the denotification of the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly was being withdrawn as well, since Mahmood Khan Achakzai had already been appointed as the new Opposition Leader.

The Supreme Court issued notices for October 29 regarding the pending appeal against Shibli Faraz’s disqualification.
