ISLAMABAD: Five years ago today, India’s fascist regime led by Narendra Modi started working on its nefarious design of turning the Muslim majority occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a Hindu territory.

The Indian regime unitarily abolished the special status of Kashmir given to it as a disputed territory. The status of the occupied territory is yet to be decided under the UN Security Council resolutions passed on the request of India itself.

Five years on, India has not only lost its dream of changing the demography of the area but has also seen more resistance from the Kashmiris to its illegal occupation of their land.

Since 2019’s illegal and unilateral step, the Kashmiris the world over gave observed the day as a day of exploitation, renewing their resolve to continue struggle till they get their birth right to self-determination as guaranteed by the UN Security Council resolutions.

The day of exploitation of Kashmiris is being held in Indian occupied Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and other countries today.

In this regard, different government and private organizations and religious parties have arranged events and rallies to highlight the Indian illegalities and atrocities on the people of occupied Kashmir.

A one-minute silence was observed at 9sm across the country and national anthems of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir were played in state media.

Radio Pakistan, PTV and other media organizations arranged special programs  to highlight Kashmirs’ freedom struggle, sacrifices and Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu Kashmir.

In Muzaffarabad, protest gatherings and anti-Indian rallies were arranged by Kashmir Liberation Commission, Hurriyat organizations, trade unions, political parties, journalist community and civil society.

Banners, placards and posters have been displayed in all the cities of AJK in which Indian state terrorism, barbarism and human rights violations in the occupied territory.

Moreover, the international community especially the United Nations, is being reminded of their obligations and commitment to ensure the implementation of the Security Council resolutions to provide an opportunity to the Kashmiris as promised decades ago, to decide about their future.

The world is also being reminded of the basic human rights being denied to the people of Kashmir by the Indian occupation regime.

Apart from these, the undecided dispute between two nuclear powers is endangering peace un South Asia only because of the intransigence of the rulers in New Delhi.
