One Individual Has Become National Security Threat, Says DG ISPR

Claims that the individual’s primary facilitators are segments of the Indian media, along with social media accounts linked to Indian intelligence agency RAW.

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has declared that a particular individual has evolved into a “national security threat,” adding no one will be allowed to incite the public against the armed forces.

Addressing a press briefing on Thursday, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said that the Pakistan Army continues to make daily sacrifices for the security and stability of the country, yet “one person believes that if he is not in power, nothing else matters.”

He maintained that this individual’s persistent narrative has now become a direct threat to Pakistan’s national security architecture.

The DG ISPR congratulated the nation on the formal establishment of the Headquarters of the Chief of Defence Forces, noting that similar structures exist in dozens of countries worldwide.

He said the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces marks an important milestone for Pakistan’s defence management, and he extended his felicitations to all concerned.

Reiterating the military’s apolitical stance, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif stated that the armed forces do not represent any form of regional, linguistic, religious, or political alignment.

“We respect all political parties,” he said, emphasizing that the army neither operates under elite agendas nor allows itself to be drawn into political disputes. Political actors, he added, must conduct their politics independently and keep the military out of partisan matters.

He warned that if anyone targets the armed forces for personal or political gain, “a firm and comprehensive response will be taken.” He added that no individual or group would be permitted to create rifts between the people of Pakistan and their armed forces. “It will absolutely not be allowed for anyone to provoke the public against the Pakistan Army,” he said.

Lt Gen Sharif further alleged that, following meetings with this individual in jail, a continuous series of anti-army messages and narratives emerges on social media.

He claimed that the person in question has advocated for overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances and has at times attempted to influence international lenders such as the IMF. Despite these efforts, he said, the Pakistan Army has stood firmly against adversaries with economies and militaries eight times larger than Pakistan’s.

He added that when members of the political party associated with this individual are questioned, they deny knowledge of the origin of these anti-army narratives. Referring to a recent social media post, he described it as part of a coordinated effort.

“This mentally unstable person tweeted two days ago see how the narrative is crafted,” he remarked. He alleged that multiple overseas accounts, including those based in the UK, amplify these messages within minutes or hours, adding that many such accounts are anonymous and operated from outside Pakistan.

According to the DG ISPR, the individual’s primary facilitators are segments of the Indian media, along with social media accounts linked to Indian intelligence agency RAW. He stated that Afghan social media networks are also actively engaged, describing them as supporters of extremist elements.
