Operations will continue to stop losses to economy: army chief

Apex committee meeting in Lahore briefed about actions against electricity and gas thefts

LAHORE: Army chief Gen Asim Munir on Thursday said actions by law enforcement against illegal activities that caused losses to the national economy will continue in collaboration with government departments.

He stated this at a meeting of Punjab Apex Committee in Lahore. The meeting was also attended by caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi. 

The army chief also said that steps would be taken to stabilize the economy and in this regard all government departments were working in close collaboration with each other.

Officials concerned briefed the committee about the overall security situation, including actions against electricity and gas theft, hoarding and foreign currency smuggling. The meeting was also updated about steps taken for protection of minorities and progress of operations in kutcha area of Punjab.

The COAS underscored the need for synergy among all relevant departments for gainful effects of the landmark initiatives.

The participants affirmed that state institutions, government departments and people are united for progress and prosperity of the country.
