Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the party and government spokespersons to expose the opposition to the open ballot in the Senate elections and the opposition demanding written NRO in the name of amending the NAB Act.
PM Imran has said that the opposition on the one hand talks of electoral transparency and on the other hand opposes the open ballot in the Senate. The amendments proposed by the opposition to the NAB Act were in fact a written request of the NRO in which they demanded abolition of disqualification for corruption.
An important meeting of PTI leaders and party spokespersons was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Barrister Shehzad Akbar, Home Adviser, while briefing the spokespersons on the proposals of the Opposition in the NAB Act, said that the amendments in the NAB Act were to benefit the opposition leaders.
The premiere directed the party spokespersons to bring to the notice of the people the amendments proposed by the opposition in the NAB law and said that the opposition had written an NRO in the name of amending the NAB law and demanded corruption. But the punishment of disqualification should be abolished.
The meeting was also briefed on the changes in the procedure of Senate elections. After which PM Khan said that the double standard of the opposition has come to the fore in the transparent Senate elections, the government wants transparent Senate elections, while the opposition protesting in the name of electoral transparency is opposing the open ballot elections.
Instructing the federal ministers to focus on improving the performance of their respective ministries, PM Imran Khan said that every member of the cabinet would have to work extra hard if they wanted to change the system, remove obstacles in providing relief to the people.
