Over 100 teachers sacked for prolonged absentism
QUETTA: The provincial government of Balochistan has started action against teachers who have been absent from duty for long period of time.
A part of the action initiated by the education department, a total of 114 teachers have been sacked after they were found absent from duty for over three years.
Officials in the education department told media that 998 teachers had also been issued show cause notice for their prolonged absentism while 421 others have been asked to submit explanation. Moreover, 78 teachers across the province have also been suspended.
Absentism has been a major issue in the education department of not only Balochistan but also KP and Sindh. In KP, hundreds of teachers were a few years ago found absent from their jobs. They had appointed proxy teacher in their places by paying a portion of their salaries to them.
This was done in connivance with the officials of the education department.
