Over 30,000 Schools, Colleges in Punjab Linked to Safe City System
LAHORE: More than 30,000 educational institutions across Punjab have been connected to the province’s Safe City system as part of enhanced security measures for schools, colleges, and universities, officials said.
According to authorities, both public and private educational institutions have been integrated into the Safe City network, enabling real-time monitoring of security conditions through a dedicated safety application. Representatives of educational institutions will be required to update their security status on the app three times a day.
Under the initiative, a Virtual Center for Educational Security has been made operational to centrally monitor security across institutions. Officials said that approximately 130,000 teachers and security staff have already been registered under the system.
Installation of the Public Safety App has been made mandatory for educational institution staff. In case of any threat or emergency, instant alerts will be generated through the system, allowing authorities to respond promptly.
Officials further stated that the process of linking surveillance cameras of educational institutions with the Safe City system is ongoing to ensure direct monitoring. Additionally, the installation of panic buttons in educational institutions is in the final stages.
