ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has presented the details of Pakistani prisoners currently incarcerated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the National Assembly.
According to the information provided, there are currently 3,523 Pakistani citizens imprisoned in the UAE, with 1,050 of them confined in various prisons and rehabilitation centers in Abu Dhabi.
As of November 2025, legal assistance has been provided to 769 prisoners. Amnesty requests for Pakistani prisoners are regularly submitted to the UAE government, with 350 amnesty requests being sent in 2025 alone.
The details of Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia were also presented during a parliamentary session in November 2025. The country’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, stated that there are 11,009 Pakistani prisoners in various prisons across Saudi Arabia.
Of these, 5,297 are in the jurisdiction of the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh, while 5,712 are located in the western part of the kingdom. Efforts are being made to provide legal support to all the prisoners.
Ishaq Dar also mentioned that 2.18 million Pakistanis are residing in the UAE, making them the second-largest foreign community in the country. He added that the Pakistani diplomatic missions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are providing comprehensive consular and welfare services to the community.
