Over 90 killed as boat sinks near Mozambique

Five survivors rescued, search on for others, say rescue workers.

MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE: Over 90 people sank when an overcrowded boat capsized off the north coast of Mozambique, according to media reports.

The makeshift boat was carrying 130 people when it encountered fault while moving towards the island off Nampula province.

The officials said that the boat was meant for fishing but it was being used for ferrying a large number of people. Those on board included women and children.

Rescue staffers said that five survivors had been rescued while efforts were underway to find any other survivors and bring them to safety
