ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given special recognition to a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilot for destroying India’s S-400 air defence system during Operation Banyan al-Marsoos.
At a prestigious ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conferred top civil and military honours on distinguished individuals from various fields.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), PAF officer Wing Commander Malik Rizwan-ul-Haq was awarded the Tamgha-e-Basalat for his extraordinary bravery and professional excellence.
The Prime Minister personally presented the award to Wing Commander Rizwan-ul-Haq and, standing alongside him, introduced him to the audience as the officer who destroyed the Indian S-400 system. The announcement was met with loud applause from the attendees.
On May 10, in response to Indian aggression, Pakistan’s armed forces carried out Operation Banyan al-Marsoos, targeting Indian air bases and other strategic military sites. During the operation, the PAF used a JF-17 Thunder fighter jet armed with a hypersonic missile to successfully destroy India’s advanced S-400 air defence system.
