ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has categorically said that Pakistan would “absolutely not” allow any bases and use of its territory for any sort of action inside Afghanistan.
In an excerpt of the interview shared on Axios website to be aired on Sunday, the interviewer Jonathan Swan questions, “Would you allow the American government to have CIA here in Pakistan to conduct cross border counter terrorism missions against Al-Qaeda ISIS or the Taliban?
Answering the question Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he will not allow the US’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to use bases on Pakistan’s soil for cross-border missions. “Absolutely not, there is no way we are going to allow any bases, any sort of action from Pakistani territory into Afghanistan. Absolutely not.”
Few days ago, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, speaking in session of Senate, also has rejected the notion that Pakistan will allow the United States to set up a base inside the country and asserted that under Imran Khan, Pakistan is in safe hands.
