ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been affirmed as one of the world’s most generous nations, securing the 17th position out of 101 countries in the World Giving Report 2025, despite ongoing economic challenges.

The annual report, released by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), UK, in collaboration with the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP), measures global generosity based on three key indicators: helping a stranger, donating money, and volunteering time.

Pakistan performed impressively across all categories, particularly in individual donations relative to income, highlighting a strong tradition of charitable giving.

“This is a moment of celebration for Pakistan, reflecting a strong culture of compassion and collective responsibility,” said Shazia Maqsood Amjad, Executive Director of PCP. “Despite inflation and financial hardship, Pakistanis continue to support others not only through donations but also by giving their time and personal effort.”

The report attributes Pakistan’s high standing to long-standing cultural and religious practices such as Zakat, community solidarity, and informal assistance, which collectively act as an essential social safety net.

Supporting the global findings, PCP’s own research shows significant philanthropic engagement in sectors like health, education, disaster relief, and poverty alleviation.

Globally, the report notes a sustained trend of giving amid economic uncertainty. Pakistan’s resilience and unwavering generosity underscore the deeply rooted values of care and collective responsibility in its society.

PCP reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing this spirit of giving through continued efforts in research, certification, and multi-sector partnerships. The organization also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among civil society, government, and the private sector to build a more inclusive and transparent philanthropic environment.
