Pakistan announces 18-player squad for Cricket World Cup

Chief selector says Babar Azam will be captain and Shadab Khan vice captain of team.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an 18-player squad for taking part in the forthcoming World Cup Cricket Tournament.

The mega cricketing event is starting in India on October 5 and Pakistan’s first encounter is scheduled with Netherlands on October 6.

PCB chief selector Inzimamul Haq announced the names at a press conference today, according to which Babar Azam will be the captain and Shadab Khan vice captain of the Pakistan team.

Fast bowler Naseem Shah is out of the team due to an injury and in his place Hassan Ali has been included into the squad.

The players are:

Babar Azam, captain

Shadab Khan, vice captain

Abdullah Shafiq

Fakhar Zaman

Imamul Haq

Haris Rauf,

Iftikhar Ahmed

Shaheen Afridi

Muhammad Rizwan

Muhammad Nawaz

Muhammad Waseem junior

Hadsan Ali

Saud Shakil, Salman Agha and Usama Mir.

Inzimam said three players have been kept on reserve for the tournament. They are Muhammad Haris, Ibrar Ahmed and Zaman Khan.
